A call for Kubuntu Intrepid ISO testing

The Ibex is getting ready for the beta stages of development, so Ubuntu's QA team is looking for folks to test out iso images.

Testing isn't hard, but can take some time as well as a spare system to test the image on. At this point, they are simply testing the cd iso's integrity, and looking for issues with various installation scenarios.

The testing procedures and how-to's can be seen here

testing Kubuntu 8.10 and LOVE it

I downloaded the Kubuntu 8.10 DVD and I have it loaded on my Panasonic CF-72 Toughbook. I love this new distribution, KDE 4.1+, my wired and wireless network is working great! I can't wait to 10/30/2008. I am ready to move my regular laptop from 8.04 to 8.10....

thanks for a great new "pre" release!

Re: A call for Kubuntu Intrepid ISO testing

I downloaded the alternate CD image with Bit torrent, burned it with K3B and it installed perfectly first time.

I'm impressed with the changes from Hardy. When will Openoffice 3.0 be available for Ibex?

KDE 4.1 takes some getting used to after 3.5.9 - I prefer the point hover glide click of KDE3 to click wait click wait click of KDE4. I changed the desktop, sorry Nuno, I didn't like it.

I didn't try the ecryptfs option of making ~/Private as I'm already using an encrypted partition. I would like to know what other people who have tried it think.

        Keep going, Kubuntu is great.

I tried it.../ am trying Kubuntu 8,10 RC1.... so far not happy AT ALL...

It has frozen my system every session with no common thread I can find in whats causing it. It freezes so bad I loose complete control, no mouse, no keyboard. Only choice is hitting the power button. This is not acceptable.... I would expect this from a alpha or early beta but this is one hell of a show stopper!
I also experience my screen screwing up and having to hit F5 (refresh) to get it so I could see what was on the screen again.

Everex Cloudbook CE1200V running a VIA C7-M 1.2GHz processor and S3 UniChrome video chipset.

Try changing a video driver w/o manually editing the .conf file.....

Really don't care for KDE 4, haven't yet found a way to edit the menu with out again having to manually edit a file.... it seems we're going backwards these days.

                Downloaded the bittorrent version.

Apart from internet not working at all from 8.10 all else is dandy.
