    WUBI and Intrepid

    Hello,

is there a working version of Intrepid Ibex/WUBI that I can use to test this on my dual-boot windows machine?

I'm very reluctant to install Intrepid standalone, but this seems like a great way to test except that at the moment the downloadable desktop CD WUBI install won't boot.

    Thanks in advance!

    -paul.

What advantage does the WUBI install have over a LiveCD?

      Re: WUBI and Intrepid

A live CD doesn't let me have a full environment that I can install software into, etc, and so test those things that I want to use, which may not be part of the distro.

I'd have to install the CD, which brings me back to the same position - I don't want to have to do that

Why can't you install software on the LiveCD? I installed Firefox while on the Kubuntu Inteprid 8.10 LiveCD. I know, it is not the same but I know it can be done.

kbunt's right: A while back I created a thumbdrive with the Kubuntu LiveCD image and a Casper partition, and was able to install newer packages to it with no problem. Take a look over at pendrivelinux.com for a walkthru - though I recall having to modify the instructions (think I had to install grub to the thumbdrive to make it bootable) they had at the time I was playing with it.
