Starting from the scratch and installing the Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex 8.10 (alpha-4)


Splash problem

With the usplash enabled, session will end on the black screen. Dmesg will tell why:

v86d is

daemon to run x86 code in an emulated environment
v86d is needed by the uvesafb kernel module.

Bugs
> v86d missing, needed for uvesafb
> Switched from vesafb to uvesafb, but uvesafb can't work without v86d

Solution: install package v86d.

kdesudo

Kdesudo is under development > KubuntuIntrepidKDE4Porting

kdesudo-kde4 needs some changes to sync the KDE 3 version with the KDE 4 version. This is currently in progress.

At the moment kdesudo is a bit shaky. Kdesudo kate will end to the non responding kate (pic kdesudo_kate.png) window. Second try will be successful (or third ) and the next login will tell:

No command arguments supplied!
Usage: kdesudo [-u <runas>] <command>
KdeSudo will now exit...

Adept is not working:

Misc

Default file association for .txt files is the OpenOffice.

Konqueror > Settings > Configure Konqueror > File Management > File Associations -> Application Preferences Order


Trashcan is in the panel but "Empty Trashcan" don't work. Open trashcan > Delete (Shift-Del) is working.

Or just open it in Dolphin, and delete everything.
