I've got KUbuntu 8.10 with KDE 4.2 installed on my noteboog HP Compaq nx7300.
I've got problem with power management. Simply speaking - it doesn't work.
In System Settings->Advanced->Power Management there are power management settings. OK. I set thre everything as I wish to act and unfortunately it doesn't act as in setup
Examples:
1. I set: "After 5 minutes of idle suspend to disk." 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour... nothing happens.
2. I set "After lid close suspend to disk." Closing lid... Nothing. Or closing lid -> yeah! it works!. So sometimes it suspends and sometimes not.
3. Enable monitor power management. I set, that after 10 minutes it shall switch off. But in System Settings->General->Display there are the same options! But they are set to different values . Which values are more important? Oh, I forget to say: after these 10 minutes nothing happens. Monitor is still on.
I intalled KPowersave. In its configuration there are profiles. But in SystemSettings->Advanced->Power Managemet thera are profiles too! So which profiles are more important? Of course after nstalling KPowersave nothing changed and it still doesn't work as I wish (and as expected).
Would anybody explain me what it is all about and how to cope witch different places of setting the same things?
