I have just completed a fresh install of Intrepid and upgrade to 4.2 and while I was setting the global Amarok multimedia keys I noticed that my Stop Key got mapped to the XF86AudioLowerVolume. XF86AudioLowerVolume is also mapped to the correct volume key. I'm not sure how I can fix this.

Re: XF86AudioLowerVolume Mapped to Volume and Stop Key
So I did a fresh install of Intrepid on my second computer and the same thing happened, only this time with the laptop function keys.
On both computers, there was no problem mapping these keys correct under Edgy through Hardy.Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel.

Re: XF86AudioLowerVolume Mapped to Volume and Stop Key
I think I have a similar problem. My mute button isn't mapped at all.

I am looking for a way to map a key to a function. If I come across a solution I will let you know.I have a mind like a steel trap. Stuff gets in there and WHAM! it never gets back out again.

So I am assuming then you have used 'xev' to see what happens when you press the mute button? To see if it triggers any events.Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel.

I have found this that might be of interest to you:

Might help you change the mapping of the keys. I can't try it as yet, but will be doing when I get in. Hope it works for you.

Re: XF86AudioLowerVolume Mapped to Volume and Stop Key
I just learned to set these for my Sony Vaio. This might work for you also.
Open System Settings->Keyboard & Mouse
Select Global Keyboard Shortcuts
Slect KMix in KDE Components
In my case my Increase Volume setting was on PCM,HDA Intel and would change that setting but the volume would not change.
I selected Increase Volume- Master, HDA Intel-> Custom and clicked the wrench icon. When I push the key I wanted to map it did, I clicked apply and it worked.
You will probably find some other setting in here you want to change. Hope this helps.

Re: XF86AudioLowerVolume Mapped to Volume and Stop Key
I'm not worried so much about changing what the buttons do after the fact. I am more concerned that they are being incorrectly mapped to begin with when with previous releases they were mapped correctly.Weaseling out of things is important to learn.
