What SD card reader DOES work?

I hope someone can name for me a brand and model of SD card reader which plugs into a standard USB slot, can handle 2 GB cards at least, and also WORKS under Kubuntu 8.10. I guess the issue is the kernel version not the Kubuntu version, but I'm pretty clueless about hardware.

Over at http://www.fsf.org/resources/hw/storage/sd.html They mention the Ricoh RL5c476 II as a reader which will "probably work once kernel 2.6.17 comes out." I guess they are a little out of date, isn't the latest kernel 2.6.27 or around there?

Is there some other website with more up to date info on hardware for Linux?

    Thanks for your time.

This one works great on SD and SDHC cards:
