    "sparkly" portions of background

On a fresh install, on roughly every other boot I get "sparkly" behavior on the desktop. Portions of the background basically show blue static, sometimes in the b&w default login background (curlieque); sometimes in the desktop after login. Often, the affected region is parallel to a curve in the picture.

The regions affected look kind of like the selection effect in gimp.

According to lspci, I have some kind of SiS video:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760 PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter

If there is a driver I should be using; I haven't found it yet.

    This is an Acer 5002WLMI.

mine occasionally does that. If you logout and restart xserver it usually solves it.

I've noticed that--but it's just *so* often--maybe one time in three. The login screen sometimes does it, too!
