new (low-budget) videocard: which one is best?

Ok, so my video card has been declared total loss and I am to buy a new one.

I've spotted three models that are below 60 euro's. Which one can I expect to have the best performance under linux?

    1) Nvidia Geforce FX5500 256mb
    2) Nvidia XFX 9400 GT 512mb
    3) Nvidia XFX AGP Geforce 6200 512mb

Given those choices, I would probably go with the 9400. I used to have a 9600, and it worked great. I really liked the 9000 series GPU's. Also, the 5500 won't work with the latest Xorg release IIRC (well, it works, but not with hardware acceleration), and the 6200 is old technology.

This is just my opinion though...

      Thnx, that's quite useful info

Btw, if you know any other nice low-budget card, I'm all ears.

If you could get one of these in Europe:

it would be a great buy at this price (in euros). The 8800GTS is "obsolete", from a marketing perspective, but it's a nice, solid high performance graphics card, and the current drivers as well as X.org work fine with it.

I concure with the 8800...great card. That one is PCI-E though, so make sure that is what you need, and not AGP.

            The 8800GTW would be about... 185 euro's

            What about this 9500-GT?

            http://www.azerty.nl/8-971-88676/clu...e-heatpip.html

It's about 60 euro's and passively cooled (which I think is great, because I really don't like noise and fans-that-can-break-as-it-did-on-my-previous-graphics-card).
