I have 3 webcams that use the Pixart in the gspca-source, yet I cannot install it as it comes back with errors. Do you think that this will be fixed, or should I go back to windows. I think that Kubuntu should give better support for webcams, I really like Kubuntu and want to stay with Linux. But with webcams becoming major part of a system better support should be given in order to keep in the top of the list of OS's

Re: gspca-source
1richard,
You experiencing a backwards move in terms of hardware compatibility, like myself, having moved from 8.04 to 8.10? My webcam (a Logitech QuickCam Express) worked fine with older kernels but stopped completely when I upgraded.
It's a kernel issue (for mine anyway) and doesn't seem to have been resolved yet.
When it's done, apparently it should work again. Seems a bit of a long wait so far though...
Bag.

Re: gspca-source
The last few posts on this thread show how to get the Logitech webcams working:

I don't know about the Pixart devices.

Re: gspca-source
Have you tried the downloaded driver from mxhaard?
http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html
This would be the one to try: gspcav1-20071224.tar.gz
If that doesn't work, and the compiled driver doesn't work -- I guess you're out of luck for the moment.
