I just got an Asus P5Q Pro motherboard and I still had the optical audio connection from my previous Asus board. I installed Kubuntu 8.10 and have no audio. The optical output works fine from Windows XP. Usually my receiver shows when it gets an optical connection, but I'm not even getting that.
