Monitor won't shut off

Hi,

I can't seem to get the power saving settings to shut my monitor off after "X" minutes. It will run the black screensaver, but not shut down the monitor.

Any ideas what I can do?

K Menu > System Settings > Display > Power Control > Enable display power management (check this box) > Power off after: (select the number of minutes here)

Click Apply.

This should work.

I don't know about gutty96 but I've got that set already and my monitor doesn't shut down either.

I have the same problem too - and have done ever since upgrading to KDE 4

Everything is correctly checked in the options, but am not able to get the monitor to close down/shut off after the stated time.

Any suggestions on how to fix it would be most appreciated.

This was one of my big issues from the start.
This is what I did for my laptop remove the guided power manager crap thing. Installed kpower.
For my desktop and laptop look at your screen saver, I never use one but 8.10 defaults to a blank screen saver, and it turns on after I think 15 minutes. Turn off this screen saver and this alone could fix the issue.

That worked for me. Just disabled the screen saver and now the monitor turns off just like it should.
