Hi,
I have a new ATI HD4670 graphics card but I cannot install any drivers for it. I have a new install of Intrepid, I have also installed Envyng. When I run Envy from the command line and install the recommended driver it tells me to restart, which I do. But when I have restarted, my monitor tells me the V refresh is to high
After logging in:
1. Ctrl-Alt-F1 and login again
2. Envyng -t followed by the password
3. Remove the ATI driver
4. Restart
5. GUI login (screen resolution 800 * 600)
6. Ctrl-Alt-F1 and login again
7. Envyng -t followed by the password
8. Install the ATI driver, Envy only offers the 8.552 version
9. Restart
10. Message from my monitor that the V refresh is ?
11. Ctrl-Alt-F1 and login
12. There is a message about not finding a resume image?
13. Restart
14. When the GRUB menu appears select repair
15. Repair the X server and resume
16. Go to 1
If I try the GUI version of Envy, sometimes a crash alert pops up with a message that Kmix has broken.
Mepis v8 beta 5 manages to install an ATI driver, but has some sound issues. Mepis does have KDE3
