usb mouse now only works from boot

I had kde4 running under Hardy and it responded to plugging in a usb mouse when the desktop was loaded.

After upgrading to intrepid, even going down runlevel 1 then back up to the desktop does not allow for it to be detected. It has be be plugged in at boot time.

The work environment changes such that a mouse can be used and it would be nice to have this just work without rebooting.
