    Nvidia drivers

    still having problems with the Nvidia drivers, they do not work locks up my computer on boot, each time, on 1 computer, the other one has 2 gig of ram 3500 swap file and it is very very slow, any help would be appreciated Thanks

    Have you tried adding this to your xorg.conf file on the machine that is locking on boot, out of curiosity?

    from the command line type; sudo nano /etc/x11/xorg.conf)

    under the following section add the line;

    Section "Screen"

    Defaultdepth 16

      Couple of thoughts:

      1. The new X.org version in 8.10 has documented problems with Nvidia cards earlier than the 6000 series -- see the release notes. In this case, you must use "nv" driver.

      2. Install the Nvidia driver following this procedure:

      3. The size of RAM and swap are mostly irrelevant to video performance.
