    (Solved) A floppy problem...

I haven't seen (or found) any reference to it here, but one thing i've noticed since i installed Intrepid; the light on my floppy drive is constantly on.

I've just stuffed an Acronis disc in there and there was a deafening silence in response, and i can't find anywhere to see if it's supposed to be enabled at boot or not...

    I do miss Kcontrol.

Does anyone else have this.... problem?

Heh heh heh heh -- FLOPPY drive, eh? Heh heh heh -- is that 5.25 inch or 3.5 inch? Heh heh heh.

    OK, I'm sorry.

    Code:
    sudo modprobe floppy

Apparently the gods have ordained that the era of default floppy drive availability is now officially over.

Don't ask how I just happen to know this one ....

      Many Thanks for that.

      .... yes, it's only a modest 3.5 inch.

        Just to add some information:

I upgraded this morning, and without having to do the sudo modprobe floppy - which sounded quite painful - the light is off.

Thank you dibl for the suggestion, and also to whoever fixed it without telling me.

You just gotta love an Operating System that fixes itself!

That's the wonderful thing about a Beta.
