    mesa i830_vtbl.c + creating mesa package.

    hi,

    when playing warzone2100, it often stops with this message:

    i830_vtbl.c:554: i830_emit_state: Assertion `get_dirty(state) == 0' failed.

    i tried to comment this line in the source, but compiling the mesa package doesn't work as expected.
    first debian/rules binary failed in configure on some text replacement problems, which i seem to have solved by just replacing the text myself. now it seems to compile 'everything', but creating the package fails with this message:

    dh_installexamples -i
    dh_install --sourcedir=debian/tmp --list-missing -i
    cp: cannot stat `debian/tmp/usr/lib/libGL.so': No such file or directory
    dh_install: command returned error code 256
    make: *** [binary-indep] Error 1

    could someone please help me with how to proceed?
    (this is the mesa source package obtained via apt-get -f source mesa)

    with kind regards, Grobbel.

    After updating kubuntu once more, i could now compile the mesa packages. I replaced all 'assert's in i830_vtbl.c with 'ASSERT', and have been playing warzone2100 for hours now, without crashes :-)

    sorry to have bothered you guys.

      hi,

      I have a very similar problem when playing regnum (though it's line number 555 not 554). Here is the problem (It's a copy+paste from my post in ubuntuforums):

      hi,

      when I try to play regnum online, it works fine, until I get to the places where there are many polys. then, I get lags (which is normal), and the program closes, and I get this error:
      Code:
      game: i830_vtbl.c:555: i830_emit_state: Assertion `get_dirty(state) == 0' failed.
      Saving backtrace to crash_backtrace_19526.log
      Got SIGABRT (aborted)
      This is the first time I try to play regnum since a long time. But, when I last played it, it worked on the same machine under hardy (I have ibex now).
      Well, I downloaded the mesa source and looked in the i830_vtbl.c file. I read about some fix with changing all the 'assert's in the file to 'ASSERT'. That didn't work though. I tried changing the asserts concerning get_dirty(state) so that they are always true (in both the i830_vtbl.c and the i915_vtbl.c files). I compiled and installed. Restarted X. I tried to play the game again, but strangely it still gives me the same error! even though There is no occurrence of an assertion that has something to do with get_dirty(state)!

        Re: mesa i830_vtbl.c + creating mesa package.

        Did you check that the gl library file actually changed?
        I just tested a fresh install of ibex on similar hardware, and the problem was there.
        After installing my .debs I didn't notice any crashes anymore.

        did you check debian/rules for debug flags?
        I compiled with
        CC=gcc CFLAGS="-mtune=native -march=native -msse2 -mfpmath=sse -O3"
        CXX=g++ CXXFLAGS=${CFLAGS}
        and removed the CFLAGS=-Wall -g from debian/rules.
        so probably my debs are useless for you :-/

          I just checked and noticed that the timestamps of the files were not from yesterday, when I tried to install mesa. I manually installed it (file by file), and now it works  Thanks

          But Why didn't
          Code:
          make install
          install the files correctly??

            did you specify --prefix=/usr while configuring? the default is /usr/local.

            i prefer to create debian packages, so my system doesn't become even more messy :-)

            will you report your experience to the maintainer for mesa?

              I didn't.. normally I don't, and it works, but then sometimes I have to specify the prefix explicitly

              How can deb packages be created?

              Ok, I'll report.
