    [SOLVED] File type associations

    That may be the wrong title, but I am not sure how else to describe it.

    I want to know what program to use to change what happens for specific file types. Here is the problem... some time ago, I accidently set Kate to open .html and .htm files instead of them being opened by a web browser automatically.

    What program do I use to change this?

    thanks...

    System Settings -> Advanced -> File associations

      geezzzz... I have been using Kubuntu for nearly two years and I could not find it.

      thanks!

      Just to make it more accurate, the location was actually:

      System Settings -> General Tab -> Default Applications -> File Associations

      thanks again!!!

        No, it's System Settings->Advanced->File Associations. Default applications is something different.

          well... I am looking straight at it.... and here is how I had to get to "File Associations" on Kubuntu V. 8.04:

          Code:
          K-Menu -> System Settings -> General Tab -> Default Applications -> File Associations -> Text -> html
          ...and I then moved Kate down below my default browser.

          Maybe we are comparing apples to oranges... Anyway, I got pointed in the general direction and was able to fix my issue.

          thanks again!

            Maybe that's the difference. I'm running 9.04.

              Indeed it is! The whole KDE world changed (or so it seemed) with the introduction of KDE4.
