    VLC without pulseaudio

I just uninstalled pulseaudio and discovered that VLC disappeared as well. That's when I discovered that to reinstall it I need pulseaudio. Can VLC not run without pulse?

I was hoping to get this station to work again:

Edit: I reinstalled pulseaudio and VLC works and the above station can be received. I still would like to get rid of pulseaudio but it appears that VLC is a stumbling block.

    Hi

I found that all but one pulse audio packages can be unistalled, so I did that. The one I can't get rid of is library (libpulse*).

    Cheers!

When I install VLC it automatically puts pulse back in. Installing vlc-nox (the one without the GUI) does not allow VLC to be used with my Mozilla based browsers. It looks like I'm stuck.

I don't think I can connect to many internet radio stations without VLC. It looks like I have to live with pulseaudio. I was trying to simplify my system but I'm happy with the performance I'm getting now.

Try 'sudo apt-get --no-install-recommends install vlc'
That way it won't pull in 'recommended' dependencies, but only the essential ones.

And yes, libpulse can't be removed, kdebase-runtime depends on it.
