    Going from Kubuntu 8.04 to kdecore

    Currently I have a fresh install of Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron with KDE 3.5.10
    However, I would prefer to just have kdecore, but keep my kde 3.5.10

    Would I uninstall everything except for kdecore?
    Is there a way to run a Live CD and only install the minimal??
    And I keep seeing something about kdecore = kde4. is this true??

    That may have cleared up questions from my last post

    Re: Going from Kubuntu 8.04 to kdecore

    Within the Hardy repository, kde-core (not kdecore) is a meta-package that contains:
    arts (>= 1.4.2)
    sound system from the official KDE release
    kdebase (>= 4:3.4.3)
    base components from the official KDE release
    kdelibs (>= 4:3.4.3)
    as 'depends'. kdebase contains (not a full listing here):
    kappfinder (>= 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7)
    non-KDE application finder for KDE
    kate (>= 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7)
    advanced text editor for KDE
    kcontrol (>= 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7)
    control center for KDE
    These are all KDE 3.5.9 versions.

    This information is obtained from the links I posted in your other thread.

    Posting the same question in multiple boards is concidered 'bad netiquet' and leads to confusion. Stick with one. If a Moderator feels that the topic is out of place, one of us will gladly move it to the correct board.

    Edited: Hmm. Within this thread, your post count is 1. Did you delete your other post? If you did, please ignore my comment above. :P
