Open Office 3 Fresh download Need Help

OK, so I downloaded OO3 and extracted it on my Desktop. I have a folder there that says
    OOO300_m15_native_packed-1_en-US.9379
    Now what do I do?
    Can anyone help me out?

      Thanks Liquidator

This seems to work great. I have one weird problem so far. When I click on an existing document it doesn't open. I get the following error:
      KDEInit could not launch '/home/harecanada/Desktop/soffice.desktop'.

Any idea why I would get this?

Yes, because the executable is not there . You need to reset the default.

Right click on a file and select open with. You will probably need to select "other" and will then navigate to office/openoffice writer. Remember to tick the box "always use this application" and it should be fixed

Thanks but no that doesn't do it. I still get that message.
          KDEInit could not launch '/home/harecanada/Desktop/OpenOffice'.
I don't really know what KDEInit is or what it's purpose is?
The problem has to be in the fact that i downloaded OpenOffice from the website after erasing the one that comes with the distribution (Kubuntu ) because it doesn't show up in KMenu>Office either.
Not sure what to do now.
          Anyideas?

When you say "erased" what do you mean?

Also, go back into the folder you created when you extracted. You should see one which says kde integration. Click on that to install. What happens there?

On the other hand, you could upgrade to the current release, 9.04, for which OOo3 is the default.

Instructions are here for upgrading from 8.04 to 9.0

              To The Liquidator,

Well, I'm convinced. I upgraded to Jaunty last night!!
Just getting into it today. Noticed that Adept didn't get downloaded with it but I do have Synaptic. Weird to not have Adept though. Also, Desktop effects are glitchy so I have to get that figured out. I have them turned off at present because my monitor kept flashing and became unworkable.
I think it has something to do with Compiz.
              Any comments would be great.
