    Saving videos

    Hello everybody,

Does someone know where the temporary files are kept? Actually, I want to save directly the videos from sites like ***tube and I figured that If I can read them, then they are somewhere in my computer.

    Thanks!

Actually, they are streamed via flash, so they aren't actually completely stored on your drive.
There are external tools to download from youtube, but you will most likely have to compile them yourself

    Look on kde-apps.org

Providing you are using Firefox it's quite easy.

      Go to ~/.mozilla/firefox/some_code.default/Cache
and sort on the newest time/date or largest size.

The file will have a funny name but most players, especially vlc, will play them without renaming or need of an extension.

This works for the non-streamed videos, once larger than about 25 Mb you need a special plug in or application.

Get an addon extension for Firefox called "Downloadhelper". Problem solved.

I'm using this script for saving youtube videos and it works fine: http://bitbucket.org/rg3/youtube-dl/wiki/Home
