    Flashing-non-responding GoogleEarth

    so....

Google Earth is installed, it opens up just fine (the GUI opens up).
From there, it all goes downhill, fast.
It flashes erratically, and doesnt respond to any user input for about 5 minutes: keyboard, mouse, nothing.
The system is not frozen because it's open now, while I'm typing this, but as it starts up (and zooms into first position) it flashes and tries to bring itself forward like now (not the window but patches of the earth flash and navigation circle thingy pop in front).

This seems, clearly, to be a graphics thing.

I'm on a Dell Insprion e1705 with the Intel 945 graphics card.
I recently got the "Cube" running beautifully, so my system is able to handle this and this Google Earth problem was here before the cube.

    Help?

    Re: Flashing-non-responding GoogleEarth

This is a problem caused by the desktop effects.
You need to go to System Settings and disable the desktop effects and the problem will go away.
If you want both desktop effects and googleearth, you'll just have to keep switching the desktop effects off each time you open googleearth and then back on once you're finished
