Sound Does Not Work

Hi,

I installed the flash player for Kubuntu 8.4 on my Lenovo T500 and lost all sound. I read on one Kubuntu Forum blog to remove kmix and reinstall, but when I enter apt-get remove kmix, the response is:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be REMOVED:
kmix kubuntu-desktop

Obviously, I don't want to remove kubuntu-desktop.

Any suggestions ?

Just press enter. It removes kmix only - not the desktop.
Im having the same problem. good luck. I've reinstalled kmix (with a hiccup - it no longer shows on kmenu now). Still no system sounds.

Dell GX 240; Intrepid; Intel 82801BA-ICH2. (Nothing comes up under aspci -v.)
