app to run script and install and build .deb file

There is an app to run an application script to configure and compile and install the app and it builds the .deb file and updates the apt db.

I have used it in the past and cannot remember it's name - yet another Senior moment.

Checkinstall does something like that (it doesn't run the configure...):

CheckInstall keeps track of all files installed by a "make install" or equivalent, creates a Slackware, RPM, or Debian package with those files, and adds it to the installed packages database, allowing for easy package removal or distribution.

I'll check it out - the name doesn't seem familiar, but that means less and less for me anymore
