    laptop power save policy

    Greetings all:

I have upgraded my OS to the latest LTS Kubuntu. I am really happy that all my hardware was detected and mostly properly configured. There is, however, a problem with power save mode. The old LTS had a simple taskbar configuration tool so I could set policy for screen saver etc for AC powered and battery operation. I don't find anything like that with the new OS.

Mostly I use my cord so I don't really need power saving (blanking my screen) however, each time I click on System Settings--Monitor & Display--Power saving-- and then UNCHECK Enable power saving, my system seems for forget it after a couple of suspend/resume cycles. What am I missing. I read the latest manual, but it really didn't cover much about laptops. Is there a program missing that I should have installed to manage the laptop power policy?

    Thank you,

    regards,
    --<br />wishing you well

Its a while since I used 8.04 but IIRC you can get kpowersave for that version of kubuntu. That will give you loads of options.

Thanks for the tip. I installed kpowersave and it also seems to suffer the same stupid problem. After a few suspend/resume cycles, the screen returns to blanking after 10 or 15 minutes. I'll assume it's a KDE bug and step away from the dead horse already.
