Google Earth does not work but for 5 seconds

I recently installed Google earth on my kubuntu os, and every time i open it up it takes about a total of 5 to 10 seconds and then it completely shuts its self down and does not give me a reason or anything, ive looked and looked for a solution, even re-downloaded it and re installed it and still the same thing, shoot me something so i can get it to work

Open it in Konsole and post what the output is.

Only thing is, i dont know what the sudo apt-get is. if i had that i could try it but until i get that, im lost pretty much

Just type in Google Earth (probably one word) in the konsole and see what you get.

Hi, I have this same problem. I just installed Google Earth 4.2 on Kubuntu 8.04, and it shows the startup screen and the tip of the day and then immediately shuts down. I had first tried installing 4.3, but although the icon showed in the start menu, it did absolutely nothing, so I installed 4.2 instead. I tried your advice on typing "googleearth" into Konsole, and it brought the introductory screen up and then froze my computer. What else should I try?
