    Problem with ACPI shutdown

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 on an AMD quad core Phenom. Adept installed updates today.

My problem is the system shuts down. The syslog reports Critical temperature reached (127 c) shutting down. It seems happen when I run very compute intensive stuff.

I have lm-sensors installed but there doesn't seem to be support for my processor yet.

The BIOS is set up to shutdown at a processor temp of 70 c.

How can I tell if the processor temp is causing the BIOS to trigger a shutdown?

Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Re: Problem with ACPI shutdown

one way i have found that is reliable is after your suspected over heat shutdown happens. turn you computer back on and head in your bios(hit DEL or F2 after u turn it on) to the "hardware monitor" section there it will tell you the temp of your cpu,if its near the 70c mark then you will know. there is also some other useful info here like fan speeds and mother board temp.
