EnvyNG didn't work - Nvidia drivers won't install

Did the who install per the EnvyNG website directions, but it hangs on one issue.
    8.04 AMD64 on a Compaq Presario

(Reading database ... 125731 files and directories currently installed.)
    Removing nvidia-glx-new ...
dpkg-divert: error checking `/usr/lib32/libGL.so.1': No such file or directory
    dpkg: error processing nvidia-glx-new (--remove):
subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 2
    Errors were encountered while processing:
    nvidia-glx-new
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
('\nEnvyNG ERROR: The following packages cannot be installed:',)

EnvyNG has identified the graphics correctly
    1
    EnvyNG - Version 1.1.1
    Ubuntu Hardy 64bit
Your graphic card has been detected as a GeForce 7000M / nForce 610M
Your graphic card is supported by the latest driver

    I have 'usr/lib' and 'usr/lib64'
libGL.so.1.2 currently resides in /usr/lib64 directory
Any thoughts about creating the 32bit directory and linking to LibGL.so.1.2 from the 64 bit directory??

I'm not sure what the EnvyNG website instructions say, but the method listed in #7 here:

    http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3099811.0

has worked for a lot of people. I recommend you try it.

Did that - - No dice - same damned message.

dpkg-divert: error checking `/usr/lib32/libGL.so.1': No such file or directory

The message is correct. There is no '/usr/lib32/' directory. The file I have is LibGL.so.1.2 located in the /usr/lib64 directory. I'm seriously thinking of making the /lib32/ directory, and doing a symbolic link to the libGl.so.1.2 file.

Ya think maybe I should try a 4th wipe and install Just joking.

PS: Wireless is next - - again.

Hm, I googled your error message. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=770097 has been closed without giving a solution - twats!

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...77/+bug/290638 is reasonably useful - have you attempted to install the driver directly, i.e. downloaded it from NVIDIA and installed it yourself? For instructions read post #6 here http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3095660.0
