    Kontact/Korganizer crashing

I'm using KDE 3.5 on Hardy.
This all started when I was trying to find why my Korganizer Reminder Daemon kept crashing.
I found a link on the web to exit KDE, delete all /tmp/kde* and /tmp/ksoc* files and anything in /var/tmp.
I did that and now kontact won't start. The output from the crash handler is as follows:

I have tried uninstalling kontact and reinstalling without success.
I can start Kmail from a terminal window and that works fine.
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Re: Kontact/Korganizer crashing

Been having a play this morning here is a precis of what has transpired:

    1. When I booted up, my / partition was due for a fsck so that completed with no apparent errors.
    2. When KDE started, I was greeted with a setup wizard; which I completed.
    3. Kontact still crashes, although I can start Kmail and Akregator independantly (the two applications I use most).

I did a number of things from here like creating another user (which allowed Kontact to start) and after some more fiddling, found that if I renamed my ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer/std.ics file to something else, kontact would start (creating another .ics file); however, Kmail and Akregator are not in the left pane.

I'm not sure if I am progressing here and would appreciate some guidance.

Is there somewhere in Kontact I tell it to use Kmail and Akregator?? It's been many years since I setup my box from scratch and I can't remember if I had to do something special to get it to work. With my skills, I'm thinking not!!

      Re: Kontact/Korganizer crashing

More messing around and I now have Korganizer running. "Something" had upset my .ics file and as it was quite large, I got rid of all the old entries and now it works.

Only problem now is Kmail, Akregator and my address book are not in Kontact.

Can someone please tell me how to get them back in??
