Hello everyone,
After installing Kubuntu 8.04.1, I noticed that my sound behaves strange.
At first, it did not work at all. After I changed the audio device (System Settings -> Sound System -> Hardware tab) from Autodetect to Open Sound System, the Test Button resulted in proper sound coming from my speakers (no external speakers or anything, just the ones built into the laptop). However, trying to play an audio cd using Amarok results either in an error that it cannot load any audio devices, or it simply appears to play but there is no sound coming out of my speakers.
I'm running Kubuntu 8.04.1 with (as far as I can see) kernel versie 2.6.24-21-generic, with all updates in place. I've already done this, but to no effect.
System:
Dell Inspiron 640m laptop
T2300 centrino duo processor
1GB ram
The command "cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec" (without quote marks) returns:
Codec: SigmaTel STAC9200
Codec: Conexant ID 2bfa
I'm relatively new to Kubuntu and linux in general, so please explain carefully (commands, where to find files) if you think you can help me solve this.
Many thanks in advance.
