Can XP wireless laptop see Kubuntu wired desktop ?

I want to be able to save files from my laptop onto my desktop which I used to do when running XP. The laptop and wireless router are unchanged and work perfectly but my wired desktop is now running Kubuntu. Should I be able to see desktop folders on the laptop or vice versa ?

It should be no problem, I did the same with Laptop and Desktop. Both were dual boot.

The only thing you have to consider, Linux uses VNC to share desktops, Windows uses Remote desktop.

    Linux/Linux= VNC, Linux/Windows=RDP.

If I'm not mistaken, RDP it's not standard on (K)Ubuntu, you probably need "remotedesk". I looked it up with Adapt.
    I had the same problem.

    Good luck.

I've probably phrased it badly - I just want to see the folders to save files to, not take over a whole desktop. I used to do this simply with file sharing on XP, I don't think I require this type of remote software.
