    VMware installation

I recently decided to try out VMware and downloaded a .rpm file from their website. Whenever I try and install it, this shows up:

    :~/Downloads/VMware$ sudo rpm -i *.rpm
    [sudo] password for #@%:
    error: Failed dependencies:
    /bin/sh is needed by VMware-Player-2.5.0-118166.i386

I'm not exactly familiar with installing rpm packages. Am I doing something wrong? By the way, my download came with no instructions, and I couldn't really find anything of use on their website.

Yep. Send that download to the trash can. You want Ver. 2.5, for which the downloaded file name is "VMware-Player-2.5.0-118166.x86_64.bundle" for 64-bit, and prolly something close to that for 32-bit.

    Here's your link:

      Re: VMware installation

      I downloaded this one:

VMware Player 2.5 for Linux (.bundle)

      Latest Version: 2.5 | 9/23/08 | Build: 118166

When trying to install, however, this happens:

      sudo sh VMware-Player-2.5.0-118166.i386.bundle
      [sudo] password for #@%:
      sh: Can't open VMware-Player-2.5.0-118166.i386.bundle

      What's happening here?

EDIT: Never mind. I moved it to a different location, and it worked. The install was a success.
