how to enable windows media video play on konqueror

hi

Previously i was using kaffine on kde 3.5 to view windows media embeded video on konqueror. now i am on kubuntu 8.10 with kde 4.1.2 and installed kaffine, kmplayer but cannot play any windows media in konqueror web browser.

are there any players that support windows media on kde 4 that i can use to view streaming windows media embeded in browser. check this site that has windows media. www.rajshri.com for indian movies.

Try vlc player. That's what I use for Windows video files (wmv).

$sudo apt-get install vlc

i have vlc installed but what i want to do is to be able to run videos embeded in the web browser not just play a M$ file from the hard disk

Hi, the site you refer to uses flash.. maybe you need adobe-flashplugin, flashplugin-nonfree, or something like that. I have embedded video in Opera.

In Firefox I have some Add-ons as you can see in the attached image. Good luck.

Ok, it would be best to use Firefox or Opera. I am using Fiefox 3.0.3, simple download from synaptic or apt-get. Then go to adobe.com and download Flashplayer 10 as a .deb file. It's a very simple installation now. The instructions for installing the Flashplayer 10 .deb are on adobe's site now. If you need help, let me know.

Are you using kububtu 8.04 with kde 3.5.10 or kubuntu 8.10 with kde 4.12. It used to work fine in 8.04 but in 8.10 it does not work. will try the totem forefox plugin u mentioned

Hmm Im using KDE 3.5.10 on Kubuntu 8.04.. I think it's too early to switch.
