Kopete Freezes when Configuring

I am running Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.1 and everytime I click Setting -> Configure... It seems to freeze. This happens with both the KDE 3 and KDE 4 versions of Kopete. I had to manually edit the kopeterc file to add another account. I have googled and searched the forums for this same issue, but everything I find has to do with using a webcam and I have no webcam. Every other option (even the other configure options) work fine.

I have included an image of what happens to Kopete after clicking this option. Note that I did not add the white space, this is where the settings menu (top) and KSnapshot (bottom) were over the Application.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

i myself have had too many crashes with kopete - so I suggest install pidgin, sudo apt-get install pidgin should work in a terminal...

I have considered switching to Pidgin, but I love Kopete. I have my accounts added and the only time it freezes is when I click to configure it, so I have no reason to leave it for another client. I just want to be able to change some of my settings around.
