    Got the partition editor up but the rest of the drive I need to keep really......actually would it be better not to have it as a fat system?
    Running Kubuntu Karmic Koala&nbsp; with KDE 4.3 at home<br /><br />Kubuntu user 24342<br /><br />Running Dell Inspiron 530 Dual Core 3ghz<br /><br />and also running Kubuntu on a Lenovo thinkpad using a live pen drive<br /><br />Still no Microsoft here!

      If you need to connect that drive to a Windows system, or if you need to "hot-plug" it in to your running Linux system(s), then you need to leave it FAT. But FAT is not famous for its ruggedness. If no Windows access is needed, and if you can (mostly) leave it either plugged in, or unplugged, then I'd convert it to ext3 which is far more reliable than FAT. NTFS is another choice you could make for sharing with Windows, but that adds some complications that may not be worth the bother -- you still have to remember to manually "eject" it if you want to avoid data corruption.

        think I will leave that alone then has it has tons of stuff on it
