Show desktop button not working.

hi:

well the problem is simple... when I click on the show desktop button it oes not work. I have tried removing it and putting it back but the problem persist. I searched the forum but didnt find any thing similar.

lookint in system settings> help>about> says: kde 3.5.9.

This may well sound like a very silly question but do you mean that if your desktop is cluttered with windows, when you click on the Show Desktop button the desktop itself doesn't appear?

yes , when I click on the desktop it should minimize all the windows and show the desktop, but it doesnt. how can i update the kde to 4.1?
