system is very slow

Hi All,

I am using "Intel(R) Celeron(TM) CPU 1200MHz" with 384 Ram, 40 GB Hard Disk. I am using "Ubuntu 8.04.1" as my only one primary OS. My system works very slow. Even if I click to open "Dolphin". I takes 10 to 20 seconds to load the application.
Is there any option to fast up my OS?

Open the Konsole and enter

top

The output should reveal what is using the resources.

First of all, look at which processes may hog your system.

You can do this by executing the command "top" on the command line.

If this isn't the case, try to switch to a much less demanding OS. For example XFCE ("xubuntu").
