    installation of multi-gnome-terminal - unknown library gdk_pixbuf

    Hi all,

I'm trying to install multi-gnome-terminal (http://multignometerm.sourceforge.net/) on Kubuntu 8.0.4 Hardy Heron, and after long searches (and installation of autoconf automake1.4 libgnome-dev flex bison byacc libxpm-dev libxml-dev libgtkxmhtml-dev libzvt-dev) I'm stuck with Unknown library `gdk_pixbuf' error. I paste all of ./configure output (probably only the last lines matters):

Could you please tell me what should I "aptitude install" to get this GdkPixbuf thing ?

"checking for GdkPixbuf" => Ubuntu Packages > GdkPixbuf Search
You have searched for files named GdkPixbuf in suite hardy, all sections, and all architectures. Found 1 results.

    Packages: r-cran-rgtk2
    Do you have r-cran-rgtk2?

Re: installation of multi-gnome-terminal - gnomeConf.sh file not found

thx Rog131, but now another problem:
      Code:
      loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
      checking for working aclocal-1.4... found
      checking for working autoconf... found
      checking for working automake-1.4... found
      checking for working autoheader... found
      checking for working makeinfo... missing
checking whether to enable maintainer-specific portions of Makefiles... no
      checking for intltool >= 0.12... 0.22 found
      checking for perl... /usr/bin/perl
      checking for gnome-config... no
checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found
configure: error: Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by gnome-libs install
It's weird, because I already had this problem before and got rid of it by installing gnome-devel & gnome-libs-data - so the build process crashed much later - could it be that installation of r-cran-rgtk2 has broken something ?

I've googled a lot for the solution, but they point me to gnome-libs-devel which I can't find.

Could you please tell me what should I do now ?

Does anyone know what to do with this missing gnomeConf.sh file ? I can't figure it out, and I'd really love to have multi-gnome-terminal on my kubuntu !

        thx

I've also had issues installing multi-gnome-terminal.
In the end, I switched to yakuake and now I'll never go back - http://yakuake.kde.org/

            Do you have libgnome-dev ?

            Ubuntu Packages (gnomeConf.sh)

Looks like I'm chasing my own tail:
                Code:
                sudo aptitude install libgnome-dev
                blah blah blah everything ok
and now when I try to compile multignome I got the unknown library gdk_pixbuf error again...

maybe I should really forget about it and try this yakuake thing

                ?

As a side note, you can also split terminals in KDE4 konsole, although I like yakuake myself.

                    Maybe, as:

The latest marking in the multi-gnome-terminal ChangeLog is:
                    http://multignometerm.sourceforge.ne...download.shtml

updated for 1.6.2 release. No significant changes.
                    Maybe multi-gnome-terminal is unmaintained/dead ?

After a little research i found different posts in mailing lists.
gnomeConf.sh was a gnome1.x thing, so you need to install the 1.x
version of gnome-libs for your app to work properly.
GnomeConf.sh lives in the gnome-libs-devel package. Find this and install it, and things should be fine....

The latest version in the Ubuntu repositories is for the Gutsy.
