    Video acquisition problem with xawtv

    Hi all,

I'd like to acquire s-vhs videos with my old s-vhs camera and convert them in MPEG or DivX under Kubuntu Hardy 8.04. I connect the camera's s-video output to my PC's s-video input and I start xawtv, then I change the source "Television" to "S-VIDEO" and I can see the image grabbed by my s-vhs camera into the xawtv display window. I type the output file name and choose the right output file format (.AVI), the sampling. When I try to record, xawtv crashes after a cupple of seconds. Then, I started xawtv in a command line session in order to get back the eventual error messages and I receive the following :

    fp@bureau-linux:~$ xawtv
    This is xawtv-3.95.dfsg.1, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.24-19-generic)

"Ressource temporairement non disponible" means "Resource temporarily unavailable" and "Erreur d'entrée/sortie" means "I/O error".

There is a problem but I don't have a clue of what that really means.

    Any help is welcome.

I always use VLC. Never had any problem capturing and converting files.
