remapping alt+tab to ctrl+tab breaks kwin window switcher

Hey all,

When I try to remap alt+tab to ctrl+tab the window switcher starts acting weird. Normally when you press alt and then tab the window switcher stays up and with your previous window selected. However when I switch to ctrl+tab mapping it just automatically jumps to the next window without ever showing the window switcher window. This happens even if I still have ctrl pressed down, or both ctrl and tab.

I don't have any modifications to my keyboard layout via ~/.Xmodmap or anything like that. My layout is dvorak, but that really shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Anyone have any ideas about what the cause could be or how I could go about tracking down more information?

no problems here.

how are you doing this?
through the keyboard shortcut settings in systems settings or otherwise?
'cause ctrl-tab is already assigned to "walking the desktops"...

I'm doing it through the keyboard shortcut settings in systems settings. What other places in KDE would it be possible to do this from? Or is not recommended to try other methods?

some actions can be set directly by editing the kmenu.
there's also alt-f2 -> kcontrol -> regional&accessibility -> input actions
but...

i'm not particularly an expert on this.
i wouldn't think that how you do it matters much.
but i'm not sure what happens if the same shortcut is assigned to n different actions.
so, however you do it, i just wanted to make sure that, having remapped your ctrl-alt
to switching windows, the original switching desktops action associated to ctrl-alt is
now disabled (which is what the gui in system settings does automatically).

having checked that, and having successfully tested your config on my box,
i don't really have a clue as to why you see what you see...
