I set up a couple of links on the desktop and associated them with another file type. Unfortunately my error was that all links are now associated with that file type and I cannot revert links back to default association which assume is nil.
EG of course you can change an association, but if you want to make the association '' then since there is no string in the association field, the [OK] button is disabled.
Problem is there is no method obvious nor can I find the control file for file associations.
EG another thread quote 'If you are using KDE, try Control Center-KDE Components-File Associations.' There is no such control in my KDE system which is 4.0.3.
Also suggested in other thread was:
http://www.linuxpackages.net/forum/v...a462ae723b8c38
I'd be happy just to find the correct file but that was suggested as:
In KDE, the changes made to the defaults are stored in $HOME/.kde/share/config/profilerc.
But there is no such file or directory as profilerc in my system.
Any other help?
Alistair.
