KDE 4.1.1: Screensaver breaks DPMS (or vice versa?)

Hi there, I'm running Kubuntu 8.04 and recently upgraded from KDE 4.1 to 4.1.1. Since upgrading, my DPMS stopped working. Normally I have my screensaver set to kick in after 5 minutes then have the display turn off after 10 minutes. The screensaver kicks in but the display no longer shuts off.

I have seen this on my current IBM T42 laptop as well as a generic desktop. On the desktop, every once in a while DPMS actually works but most of the time it does not.

What I did discover is that if I disable the screensaver, DPMS works just fine. I have also noticed that if the screensaver is enabled and I change DPMS to start before the screensaver, the screen will blank (appears to power off) briefly then the screensaver will come on and turn the display back on.

    So, my question is...
Anyone else and is there something anyone could recommend I try to fix this??

    Thanks in advance...
