    packages marked for removal

    Hello,

Today my adept notifier showed there were ~30 updated available. I thought "good news!! fixes and updates!!", but I am hesitant to install everything. It shows quite a few packages as marked for removal, like: kcontrol, kicker, konqueror or ksysguard (there are others). I am using KDE 4.1 but still have 3.5.x installed and available to switch to the old one when things go wrong (this is the computer I use for daily work so when anything goes wrong, I just fall to backup plans and wait until I have to solve them -- on weekends if lucky).

Do you know why are these packages going to be removed? Did I screw up some dependency so I asked myself to remove them?
If not, is it safe to remove those packages? Would I be able to still use KDE 3.5?

    Thanks! Hernan.

    check each package's details.
see if they show any conflicts with anything.
conflicting packages will be marked for removal.
    but...

with the list of packages you posted, i'd say you'd better leave things as they are.
install youself a new kubuntu in a different partition to play with kde4.1.
    a lot safer.
