Is there a firewall for Kubuntu

There doesn't seem to be one installed in my configuration. I have to turn off the router firewall to get ntp to connect to the time servers and I don't like that. The router firewall doesn't allow me to fine tune which portals can be used.

I did a Synaptic search, but most of what I saw quickly looks to be for managing firewall rules and developing firewalls.

You can use firestarter or ufw which are both pretty good. They all manage iptables rules.

Thanks - tried Arno-iptables-firewall

Didn't like it - no feedback that anything is happening.

Uninstalled and installed firestarter. Like the interface much better. Don't know if it is actually doing anything more than arno-iptables-firewall or not.

May also install guarddog and try that. Searched synaptic and ufw was indeed installed, but not doing anything.

One thing I'm not too sure about with firestarter - it doesn't start automatically at boot or when KDE starts. It seems that I have to remember to always start from the menus. Unless, that is, I just leave it running at shutdown and let KDE start it automatically that way.
