    which method for Flash?

I'm wondering which method to install Flash.

Is it best to install according to instructions on the Adobe site? So, you need the tar.gz file?

I found that the non-free version never works or is it supposed to provide flash? What is it there for if it doesn't work? I'm confused. I notice it's in the repositories but when it's installed, flash still doesn't work? I mean, if you go to the 'test' side of Adobe's or any online media player using flash, it will not work (with the non-free installation).

    Can someone explain? Please.......?

I am pretty sure I downloaded my Flash by installing it through Firefox addons

The way i've found which works well (and is easy ) is to download the install_flash_player_9_linux.tar.gz into the Home directory, un-zip it, enter the resulting directory, open a Console, then simply drag flashplayer-installer into the Console and tell it "Yes".

Nothing works so far. The problem is there are a thousand different methods but when you go to the test pages, it shows that it isn't working.

        I guess I'm still distro hunting... >

Adobe Flash Player 9 for Linux

Adobe Flash Player 9 will be installed on this machine.

You are running the Adobe Flash Player installer as a non-root user.

          Support is available at http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/

To install Adobe Flash Player 9 now, press ENTER.

To cancel the installation at any time, press Control-C.

NOTE: Please exit any browsers you may have running.

          Press ENTER to continue...

          ----------- Install Action Summary -----------

Adobe Flash Player 9 will be installed in the following directory:

          Mozilla installation directory = /home/XXXX/.mozilla

Proceed with the installation? (y/n/q): y

NOTE: Please ask your administrator to remove the xpti.dat from the
components directory of the Mozilla or Netscape browser.

          Installation complete.
          ------------------------------------------
Did I do this incorrectly or illadvised? I am not sure where to install Flash Player. Can anyone recommend where?

Also, I received the message at the end of the installation. What is the 'xpti.dat' file? How do I remove it?!?

That's the same message i got. I left the .xpi file, it seems harmless.

If you're using Firefox with NoScript, make sure that Flash is allowed, it is forbidden by default.
AdBloock Plus will also need adjusting... i think.

It will load 'Flash Player'...for you. (No huge dramas.)
