I had trouble getting sound to work, so I compiled newest alsa modules and it worked perfectly. I tried to run audacity, but apparently alsa has trouble working with jack, so I followed this guide to fix the problem: http://xubuntu.wordpress.com/2008/04...hardy-upgrade/
I removed jack, now I have no sound at all and audacity still doesn't work. I installed jack again, have snd-hda-intel loaded, everything is up to 100 in alsamixer, nothing is muted, but still no sound.
In system settings -> sound system I don't see Jack, but it's set up to alsa. Any suggestions? Thanks
