Amarok only plays begining couple seconds and ending couple seconds

I have a strange problem with my system at work. I just installed Kubuntu 64 and am using the onboard soundcard on my ATI 780G Motherboard. I tried playing a song in amarok but it only plays the beginning for a couple seconds then it switches to the end of the song and plays the end for a couple seconds. Then it moves to the next track and does the same exact thing. Any ideas?

OK I spend an half hour or so trying to find a similar problem and I can't find anything.

So before I suggest to purge remove Amarok. Is there anything popping up in the left bottom corner of Amarok?

If not try this:
To remove the Amarok installation

sudo apt-get remove --purge amarok

Back-up Amarok user settings:

mkdir ~/amarok-backup && cp -R ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/* ~/amarok-backup

Remove the folder:

rm -R~/.kde/share/apps/amarok

Reinstall Amarok:

sudo apt-get install amarok

Report back if this worked or not.

I don't use it right now, but in the past, there was an option to listen to only the first and last seconds of a song. This was handy because you can listen which songs you have in your collection without clicking on every song.
But it is strange that this happens to you when this option now has (apparently) been disabled in the GUI.

I assume that you have the stable Amarok and not some alpha / beta version?

Just got back to work from vacation to test this out.

Madberry, it did not work.

mjtolsma, using what came with the disk.

Just tried out xmms2 and the same exact thing happens. So Amarok isn't the problem.

Any ideas?

That's one of the weirdest problems I've ever heard!

I wonder if it has to do with the sound system on that ATI motherboard. I honestly doubt it has anything to do with the OS. Have you ever run Windows or any other OS on that hardware?

Icedigger, is your 'on-board Sound'....Realtek High Defintion Audo...by any chance??
If so, change to Creative Sound. (At least, it is 'supportive'.)
Realtek is not, with Sound.
