    Amarok 1.90 (2 beta) problems

Anyone having problems with the new Amarok 2 beta? Mine likes to crash quite a bit, album art load extremely slow, and I can't seem to play anything (I think I'm not crazy, but then again, I probably wouldn't know...) I can play mp3's directly with it (Open with Amarok, via Dolphin), but no songs show up in the albums to load in Amarok...

I have Update/Rescan Collection with no luck. Scan folders recursively is selected.

I had the same problem. But amarok did play music. I had to revert back to 1.4.10, since obviously Amarok 2 is not ready.

If you feel like wrestling with it load the amarok-kde4-dbg package to try and help squash bugs. I thought I found a bug in KOffice, but it's intermittent at best.

Amarok two does not share your collection database from amarok 1. You have to re-add your collection. I'm not sure if this is the problem you're seeing, though.

Yeah, my collections are separate... it's just weird though... it loads all the albums but when I hit the "+" on them, they are all empty. I did not have this problem with any of the betas (that i recall).

Do you have the ability to look into the amarok database? Maybe something interesting is going on.

I could try, but don't know enough to figure anything out...

Does that mean that your 2 beta is working fine?

Actually, I just installed it to see if it was any different than the Amarok Nightly and I think I had the same problem you're describing. But I uninstalled it already so I didn't try very much to work around the problem.

The nightly project neon version works fine for me, though (and is apparently the same as what was just released). http://amarok.kde.org/en/node/482

I have the same problems with nightly.

Okay, I take it back. My nightly version has the same problems as you describe. I remember in the past being able to re-add my collection, but that's not the case at the moment.

OK, this is getting strange... I have the exact same behavior with DigiKam now... all the folders show up, but no pictures load...

Edit: Must be my ability to read SQLite databases is somehow broken...

Bump. No one else is seeing this problem?

I thought maybe installing libqt4-sql-sqlite would help (just grasping at straws) but it didn't...
