If you would like KDE 4 in Kubuntu 8.04, you should install Kubuntu 8.04 KDE3 and then enable ppa repository and upgrade to KDE4.1. Do not install the "Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 remix".

If you simply think that you prefer KDE to GNOME, then the choice might be :

    1. OpenSUSE 11.0 KDE3
    2. Kubuntu 8.04 (you can install KDE3.5 or KDE4.1 with it)
    3. OpenSUSE 11.0 KDE4
    4. Kubuntu 8.10 KDE4
    5. Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 remix

See that? IMO kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 remix is the last option and you should only try it unless you have tried everything else.

Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE3.5.10 is very stable and highly recommended.
Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE4.1 has the latest and greatest packages but not yet recommended for a production machine.
Please not Kubuntu 8.10 unless you don't mind severe system breakages.

I am curious what this is? 5. Kubuntu 8.04 KDE4 remix

How do I know if I am using a remix?
