    Adept & no CD drive

Noob, but some computer/unix/linux command line experience.

Kubuntu 8.04 on an old Vaio without a CD reader. (I installed Kub on the hard drive in a different computer, then installed the hard drive on the Vaio.) Trying to install some things using Adept, it keeps asking for the Kubuntu CD. I virtually mounted the thing in root/cdrom/ using a "mount" command and the ISO, but Adept doesn't recognize it. What's Adept looking for and how do I re-direct it?

Thanks in advance, I'm loving Kubuntu but there is a learning curve

    Best, John

If you do a Manage Repositories in Adept you may be able to uncheck the cdrom as one of your sources. I don't believe you need it for anything. If you can't do it through Adept you could also edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file and delete or comment out the cdrom section.

That makes sense, thanks! I'm in another place, but will be able to get to it in the morning, and that, considering what was happening, makes sense.

      Take care, John

Thanks Nate, that did it. Should have figured it out I suppose, but without realizing it I look for OSX or Windoz terminology.

        Thanks, John
